| Winnipeg,
Man. - Old man winter had his way again Monday, forcing postponement of the World Hockey
Association game between Cincinnati and Winnipeg for the second straight night. There was
no word as to when the game would be rescheduled. Winnipeg's team again was unable to fly
here from Minneapolis. The Stingers arrived here Saturday from Edmonton, before a blizzard
closed the airport, and waited three days for their host. Winnipeg instead flew to
Edmonton, where the Jets plat the Oilers tonight. The Stingers returned to Cincinnati and
meet Quebec Wednesday at Riverfront Coliseum. The Stingers
announced Monday they have signed Jeff Allan, a 20-year-old defenseman, for a 10-game
trial. Allan was drafted fourth this year by the Stingers and has been playing for Hampton
in the American Hockey League. This puts the Stingers two men over the roster limit,
meaning cuts must be made today or Wednesday. |
