| The
Cincinnati Stingers Saturday signed goaltender Paul Hoganson to a contract for the
remainder of the year, leaving Norm LaPointe's future clouded. Hoganson, who has played
under a Stinger contract the previous seasons and beat the Stingers twice last year in the
World Hockey Association playoffs with Indianapolis, had been playing this season with San
Francisco in the new Pacific Coast League. "I have a lot
of confidence in Hogie and I'm really glad he's going to be with us." commented
Stinger coach Jacques Demers. Demers then the Indianapolis coach, got Hoganson from the
Stingers during the second half of last season. Hoganson's acquisition was necessitated by
the probable suspension of Michel Dion by the WHA for slugging a referee. LaPointe, the
No. 2 goalie behind Dion has been inconsistent and could return to the minors of Hoganson
looks sharp. Demers said Hoganson would be in goal against the Oilers Wednesday night in
Edmonton. |
