The game between the Stingers and Whalers saw some mighty fine defense
from both clubs. The game was low on goals and low on penalties.

to score. |
Dennis Sobchuk continued
to play great hockey. Sobby performed every task that was asked of him which included his
regular forward line stint and a lot of penalty killing. Dennis also scored the only goal
in the entire game while the Stingers were short-handed. The score came in the third
period and was a short-handed unassisted goal.
The Whalers had oppurtunities to score
during a couple power plays in the first period. But the Stingers were killing penalty
minutes with little effort.
The Stingers Paul Hoganson notched a
shutout that saw him make some fabulous saves. The shutout was something Hoganson was very
happy with, seeing as how Terry Slater had been playing Norm LaPointe between the pipes
more frequently. Hogansons wanted to prove that he was ready as ever to play.
Terry Slater was quoted as saying
"We decided to forecheck more in the game. We felt if we had to we could always go
back into our shell, but we wanted to be aggressive". The game was the clubs last of
eight straight road games. Cincinnati would head home to play their first game since the
season opener against Minnesota. |
