DeBeauce, Canada (Special) - Left winger Claude Larose, a Cincinnati Stingers' No. 1 draft
choice, notched the three-goal hat trick Sunday to lead the World Hockey Association
expansion team to a 10-1 exhibition victory over the Beauce Jaros of the North American
Hockey League. Other Stingers goals were scored, one each, by
Dennis Sobchuk (his fourth in two games), Dave Gilmour, Gary Veneruzzo, Gene Sobchuk,
Steve Andrascik, Ron Plumb and Bryan Campbell. The Stingers out-shot the minor league
club, 55-19. Veteran goaltender Serge Aubry played a period-and-a-half and was
replaced by rookie Norm LaPointe, who grew up the lone Beauce goal. Aubry has yet to be
scored on in two games.
The Stingers' Rick Dudley was assessed a five-minute major penalty
for fighting. The Stingers next preseason game is Saturday at Hampton, Va. against their
farm club in the Southern League. |
