| The winner
of the Cincinnati Stingers' Honorary Stickboy Contest is, BEE-lieve it or not a young
lady. She is thirteen year old Linda Gibson, daughter of Mr and Mrs James L. Gibson, of
3636 Janlin Ct., an 8th grade student at St. Martin School in Ceviot. The Stickboy
Contest, co-sponsored by The Enquirer and Frisch's, called for a 25 word essay on why a
boy or girl would like to serve as honorary stickboy for the Cincinnati Stingers. Linda will take her post before the start of Sunday's game between the
Stingers and their Eastern Division rivals, the New England Whalers. In the crowd will be
all 3,273 participants in the contest who received two tickets from the Stingers for the
game. It will begin at 7:05 p.m.
The winner will be presented with a new color television set at
center ice before the game as well as two tickets to all the Stingers games. Her winning
entry was: I have rooted for the Reds, I have rooted for the Bengals, But to Bee the
Stickboy for the Stingers Would be the real humdinger. Linda said that it was her
mother who urged her to enter the contest so that "I could become involved in the new
major league team that Cincinnati has. I feel that the Stingers deserve Cincinnati's
support and that the fans should be behind the team".
Runners-up in the contest received a transistor radio and a gift
certicate from Frisch's. They are : Tim Findley, 11 , 3295 Gayway CT.; Mike Marlow, 11,

Spurs owner Ivan L. Mullinix denied reports he would fold his new World Hockey Association
club because of poor attendence. The Toronto Globe and Mail had reported Wednesday that
the San Diego Mariners could fold by Christmas, and the Calgary Cowboys, Cleveland
Crusaders and Minnesota Fighting Saints are in financial difficulty. The Spurs, with a
3-5-1 record, have averaged slighly more than 3,000 in the new 16,400-seat McNicholas
